Creator of increasing TV bandwidth wins 2004 Young Inventors Award

First prize winner Wang Qi Jie showed how his product increases the transmission capacity of existing optical fibres.
Television viewers can then receive greater bandwidth without the added cost.
Wang said: "We can provide more information or data in the same optical fibre without additional costs to the customer."

How is it possible to cram more bad televison throught our networks? I am sure Singtel is still going charge me higher for the addtional bandwith.

What about increasing the quality of television without the added cost? That will sure be a moneymaker.

Mr Tarman: "I used to take a cup of thick black coffee first thing in the morning. But I now find that reading the daily views, suggestions and criticisms on education wakes me up much faster. I round up the day by watching the news on Channel News Asia, or if I don't get back home in time, I look at it online at the CNA website. "

You only news source is CNA and Straits Times?
I don't know, but the word "GroupThink" comes to mind when i read this news.

SMU defends fee hike for 'prime product'

Mr Ho Kwong Ping:
'You should all recognise, being business students, that a premium product not only commands a premium price, but it also commands higher costs.'

Ok, but I can't afford a premium product. A budget version is fine for me. Got something like that? Are there any budget version of *anything* left in Singapore?

What about a price range that most middle-class Singaporean family (2 children) can afford comfortably? I guess not.
